My Big Fat Chinese Thanksgiving

The holiday season is officially upon us and that means our mouths will be very busy devouring chowlicious food! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with great company and mouthwatering culinary magic!

Given my family's culture, we always add an authentic Chinese twist to the traditional "turkey dinner." There's nothing quite as enticing as the irresistible aroma of turkey filling the house on Thanksgiving Day. We cooked up a storm and what you see here is merely one third of the big meal!

Pictured here are jumbo fried shrimp, beef stir fry with hot peppers and onions, shrimp chips, cabbage stir fry with scallions, bean curd (tofu) with deviled eggs and cucumber (with a parsley garnish), potato stir fry with hot peppers and grilled BBQ short ribs (with a parsley garnish). Inside the containers are roast duck and chicken. The medley of flavors was out of this world amazing! The turkey was still browning in the oven, so it didn't make it into this photo op. Hey, if you snooze, you lose! For dessert, we had scrumptious pecan pie and a homemade Chinese confection called red bean taro cake.

Needless to say, I'm still totally in food coma mode and have collected more calories than I care to admit. Thank goodness for the existence of a fine establishment called the GYM!

The holidays are a magical time and serve as a good reminder to count your blessings. To be able to share your favorite food with those you love is truly a special gift. There is so much to be grateful for, not only during this time of year, but every single day. Life is delicious!
