Depressed? Not Me!

January 24th is considered to be the most depressing day of the year. Also called Blue Monday, it is the day that we should be feeling the most miserable, thanks to gloomy weather, financial debt leftover from the holidays, failed new year resolutions and just plain loneliness (and locally, I'll add the fact that the Patriots aren't playing in the Superbowl, now that's depressing!). This is all according to a British psychologist allegedly hired by a company called Sky Travel, to measure when people would be most likely to travel. Sounds like a marketing ploy to me. Could there be some truth to it? The weather in Boston has been pretty awful. Although if you ski, all this snow is possibly making you happy. The credit card bills are out and that's a not a pretty site, unless of course you didn't charge a thing in December which, in that case, would make you feel good about your finances. And If you've been sticking to your resolutions, then you must be tickled pink. Perhaps January 24th isn't as disastrous as it's made out to be. Besides, spring training is closer than you think. So come on, Punxsutawny Phil, give us some good news on February 2nd. Otherwise Groundhog Day may end up being the most depressing day of the year!
