Reality? Really!

Welcome to 2011, the holidays are over and it's back to reality. Which reminds me, reality TV shows are back in full force, like those housewives from (insert city here). Although I'll admit, my one vice is watching “The Housewives of Orange County”. This week, Paula Abdul's new vehicle, “Live to Dance” starts up. But honestly, don't you think we're overdoing it? I mean, every time a reality show comes around, there are numerous copycats or similar type shows that emerge and we end up going into overload. How many cooking, modeling. dancing and singing competitions do we need? We had “Jersey Shore” and then we had to have “Jerseylicious”! There were two cake decorating shows, that's right, one filmed in New Jersey. We followed Hugh Hefner's girlfriends around and then when they all left him, we had to follow Kendra around on her show while Hef brought in a new bevy of babes for his show. We followed the Kardashians, Gene Simmons of Kiss and his family, also Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna, Soon "American Idol" will be up against Simon Cowell's “X Factor”, a similar show. There are numerous “Judge Judy” type shows, variations of “The View”. We have “Survivor”, “The Biggest Loser” and “The Amazing Race”. At the rate it's going, there will be no jobs left for the working actor(see Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna). Of course, they could always star in a Lifetime movie or a really bad comedy that may last for one or two seasons. But as a far as I can see, they'd be better off signing up for the Bachelor or Bachelorette and foregoing the masters degree at Julliard. Move over Meryl Streep, here comes Snooki!
