A Happy Customer

Sometimes you come across the nicest people where you might not expect to. For me, it was all in the last 24 hours, in 4 separate retail establishments. The first was at Lady Grace in Braintree. I've been there before, but lots of women shop there. However, I was greeted like an old friend, the women who work there were happy to see me, and that felt really nice. Next stop, South Shore Plaza. I went over to BCBGeneration to buy some leggings that had been on sale. When I got there, the leggings were back at full price. The salesperson, sensing my disappointment, decided to let me buy the leggings for the sale price after all. He didn't have to do that. He did, and I walked out one happy customer. From there, I met Roger outside of Nordstrom's, only to see that the the doors were locked. He had come to pick up a suit that he had bought last Friday and had altered. Unfortunately, there was a private event going on inside and it didn't look good for picking up the suit. But a wonderful woman from Nordstrom's opened the doors for us, and told us it was not a problem at all to pick up the suit and please, feel free to stay, enjoy the entertainment, look around and sip some champagne if we'd like. WOW! That one gesture went way beyond what any marketing campaign could ever hope to accomplish. Kudos to that woman! Now on to today, I stopped at my favorite Dunkin Donuts and ordered a honey bran muffin, which I did not receive the day before because they gave me a blueberry muffin by mistake. Well, when I got to the drive thru window, the young woman there remembered what happened the day before and said, “I'm so sorry about yesterday, I won't charge you for this muffin today. It was our mistake”. At this point I had to pinch myself. Was I dreaming? Were all these kind people really out there? Yes, and they're still out there, thank goodness. You might just run into one of these people and take it from me, it feels good!
