The Little Things

You hear this so often, that it's the little things in life that can be the most enjoyable. It rang true for me yesterday, as Roger and I sat in a booth at a place called Bart's in Amherst. It's an ice cream shop, coffee shop, sandwich shop and bakery all rolled into one. And they play great jazz music too! Earlier in the day we had walked around Northampton for a few hours, browsing through the shops and enjoying a nice autumn afternoon. As time went on, though, it started to get cold. I thought, we should go somewhere and warm up with a hot beverage. So we headed over to Amherst and made our way to Bart's. I ordered a hot chocolate topped with fresh, homemade whipped cream. From the very first sip, I decided that this was the most delicious hot chocolate I had tasted in a long time! The chocolate had a rich, smooth flavor and the whipped cream melted into the liquid to create heaven in a cup. We sat in the booth for a while and just relaxed. I'll tell you, for such a small amount of time, it was extremely therapeutic. I could feel my cares just vanish. And wrapping my hands around the hot mug was the trick to warming me up! Yes, it's the little things in life that sometimes have the biggest impact. Have you had an experience like that recently? I'd love to hear!
