Where Were You?

Where were you and what were you doing when you heard the news of the planes striking the World Trade Center Towers? Obviously, it’s one of those moments you never forget. Did you see it as it happened? Or, did you learn about it minutes or, maybe even hours later? Regardless of when you heard, it is a moment you’ll never forget.

Morning Magic was well underway. The TV monitor was on in the studio and that’s when I saw the first pictures of the fire in the north tower. First reports said a small plane had crashed into the tower, but with the massive fire erupting, the reality of the situation was quickly revealed. Gay Vernon was on air giving us the latest update, and as we recapped and expressed our disbelief, we both saw the second plane strike the south tower!

Now 10 years later, it’s still a vivid memory. And, on this anniversary there are countless ceremonies and services to pay tribute to those who lost their lives and their families. Cushing Memorial Park in my town of Framingham is the site of one of those special remembrance ceremonies for those who perished, including the 17 people with ties to Framingham. 3000 flags are displayed in remembrance. We will all remember and pay tribute in different ways, but NONE of us will EVER forget…
