Morning Magic Field Trip
Posted 11/13/2010 12:11:00 PM

Gay, Amanda and I went on a Morning Magic Field Trip on Friday to spend quality time with old friends Paul Revere, John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer. Of course, we didn’t actually hang out with them… but with their fantastic works at the Museum Of Fine Arts press preview for the new Art of Americas Wing. The 10 year, 500 million dollar project has finally come to fruition! It was worth the wait. What we saw was over the top exciting, warm and welcoming in 53 galleries on 4 floors with a spectacular soaring glass-enclosed courtyard. Since Malcolm Rogers became the director of the MFA in 1994, it has blossomed every year under his leadership…we are so fortunate to have him at the helm. He also told us yesterday that they now have valet parking, new restaurants and plenty of restrooms on every floor. I would encourage you to become a member of the MFA as I have been for many years. You should definitely plan your own field trip to the MFA sometime very soon and see for yourself. Ever wonder what elegant life in the Roswell Gleason House in Dorchester was like in the mid 1800’s? You can find out for free next Saturday,November 20th, Community Day, as the MFA opens the doors of the new wing to the public for the first time. If you run into Malcolm, tell him that I will be glad to come in and polish the silver if he needs me!
