USA!!!!

A friend asked the other day how did I ever become interested in soccer (football to some?!) and the World Cup.. actually he probably meant to say" why would you ever....". The answer is simple: a wide-screen HD TV hooked up to HD cable was all I needed to develop an addiction to 'the beautiful game.' The rest of the world has been obsessed with soccer for years, so I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. I tuned into the World Cup 2006 in Germany and found the action non-stop, with amazingly adept athletes combining fancy footwork with incredible stamina. It's a far cry from the game soccer moms and dads have to cheer on each spring And now at World Cup 2010, the US finally has a winning team. They've kept us on the edge of our seats, coming from behind to beat Algeria last Wednesday. Despite being robbed of legitimate goals by questionable refereeing, they never gave up! If Donovan, Dempsy and the boys can muster up a couple of more wins, the US could become World Cup Champions. And finally more of my fellow Americans will stand up and take notice of this wonderful sport and our fantastic squad...if not, at least the rest of the world will!
