A LITTLE COURTESY PLEASE

Talking and driving, driving and talking - it's a busy life and we all take a cell phone call now and then while we are driving, but not only is this a dangerous habit, it's anti-social! On a recent Saturday morning  I was busy doing the usual exciting array of errands. I took the cans to Bottle Bill's (enough change for a lottery ticket – see below), and then arrived at the ever-fragrant Framingham dump with my yard waste for composting. Believe it or not, the Framingham dump is a happening place on a Saturday morning and a stream of cars was patiently waiting to pull up and back into the unloading slot, each trunk laden with lawn clippings. One by one the cars turned, backed in, dumped their waste and pulled off until one driver pulled up and mysteriously could not seem to either turn or back up. Minutes went by and the car began slowly turning, but in the wrong direction. Several of us craned our necks out of our windows to see what was causing the hold up - at this rate our lawns would be fully re-grown by the time we got home. On closer inspection, it was because this charming driver was busy talking on her phone and could not manage to maneuvre the vehicle with one hand! Was this call really important enough to make the rest of us wait? I don't think so. What a selfish moron – at least bring a spare passenger along to help you steer! If I had her number, I would have called her and taught her a few lessons about town dump etiquette, but unfortunately I was already on another call....
