Candy O'Terry
ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR, AFTERNOON DRIVE

 
Born in New York City and raised in Connecticut, Candy O'Terry came to Boston to dive for Boston College. A singer since childhood, Candy fronted a band throughout the 80's. She segued into radio by doing voiceover work and singing jingles. Candy landed a part time job as secretary to the Program Director in 1990 and has worked her way up the ranks to become the station's Assistant Program Director. She co-hosts AFTERNOON DRIVE with Dan Justin, doing news, weather and Magic On Demand traffic updates. Dan and Candy are known for their slice-of-life storytelling. She can be heard on Saturdays from 9-noon and on Sundays as co-host of our award winning program, EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN. Candy is the station's pinch hitter for Mike Addams and Nancy Quill.

Candy is a judge on the Emmy Award-winning TV talent show Community Auditions. She has performed at Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops and at the Shubert and Majestic Theatres. She has performed the National Anthem at the TD Garden. Candy has recorded and released two Jim Brickman songs, "The Gift" with David Corey and  "Valentine." Candy is the proud mother of two grown children. Her son Christopher is serving the country in the Army National Guard. A police officer, EMT and member of the S.W.A.T. team in civilian life.  Chris is a Green Beret candidate,  training at the John F. Kennedy Warfare Center & School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Her daughter Colleen is a graduate of Assumption College and is a senior account executive at Mullen Advertising. A single mom for fifteen years, Candy was married in 2006. She loves being a stepmom to Tom, David and Lauren. She and her husband, Tom, live in Wellesley Hills.

I would teach pre-school in the morning and teach swimming in the afternoon.

Locker room duty at Mill Pond Pool in Newington, CT.

Most embarrassing moment on the radio?
Running into the studio with my grocery list in my hand instead of the traffic and weather report! Ummmm...it's milk, bread and cereal out there....
