Paul Rudd is learning that you don’t always have to think big to be a hero.

The “This Is 40” star has just begun production on the long-delayed “Ant-Man” for Marvel.

Rudd appears in the first official photo from the project, which is filming on location in San Francisco.

The actor, famous for his comedic roles, stands under the Golden Gate looking gritty, shrouded in a hoodie with stitches in his eyebrow.

Rudd’s character, Scott Lang, has the ability to gain monumental strength as he shrinks in size, teaming up with his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym to “pull off a heist that will save the world.”

Michael Douglas will play Pym, with “The Hobbit” actress Evangeline Lily as Pym’s daughter, Hope.

Corey Stoll (“The Strain”), Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and Michael Peña also star.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” is set for release on July 17, 2015. What do you think of Rudd in the role from what you’ve seen so far?
