The late Michael Jackson’s estate is responding to new charges of sexual abuse against the King of Pop.
E! Online reports that a man named James Safechuck, now 36, claims Jackson abused him when he was 10 years old after they co-starred in a 1980s Pepsi commercial.
The Jackson estate’s attorney, Howard Weitzman, rejected the claim by stating that Safechuck is simply hoping to “recover money from Michael’s beneficiary.”
“This is a person that made his claim five years after Michael died, more than 20 years after the incidents supposedly happened and has given sworn testimony that Michael never did anything inappropriate to him,” Weitzman said in court documents (via E!).
A hearing is scheduled for September 4 in the matter, in which Safechuck alleges that he routinely slept in Jackson’s bed and was molested nearly 100 times.
Safechuck is the latest accuser against the famed singer, including choreographer Wade Robson and Gavin Arvizo.
