Janet Jackson hasn’t released new music in several years, yet she’s still a global icon.
And if you’re asking, “What have you done for me lately?,” just know that Janet is hitting the studio, and it’s all for you.
“Billboard” spoke with vocal engineer and frequent Janet collaborator, Ian Cross, who says he’s working with her once again.
“She asked me to work on an album with her called ‘Discipline’ in 2007 and, again, just do the same thing, produce the vocals,” he said of their most recent work together… until now. “That led to her hiring me full-time to work with her. That’s where I’m at now.”
Cross also managed to reveal that they’ve recorded songs in Qatar, Paris and the Middle East, likely in part due to her marriage to billionaire Wissam Al Mana.
Janet’s 2008 album “Discipline” hit no. 1, earning the singer her sixth debut atop the Billboard 200.
