FX is keeping comedy alive.

The cable network announced that “Louie” will return for a fifth season, “Entertainment Weekly” reports.

While season 4, came back with a 14-episode fourth season after an extended hiatus, season 5 will consist of seven episodes.

The network’s big foray into limited series with “Fargo” has paid off, with the show receiving an order for a 10-episode second run.

None of the cast for “Fargo” will return when the show comes back, which FX Networks CEO says won’t be before fall 2015 at the earliest.

In other network news, their flagship comedy, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” will now return in January 2015.

FX is ramping up its original programming efforts, with five scripted eries currently airing on the network, including “The Strain,” “The Bridge,” “Married,” “You’re the Worst” and “Tyrant.”
