With so many movies being released throughout the year, it can be hard to keep track. There are plenty of 4th of July holdovers, but if you're looking for something new, check out our preview of the movies that are opening this weekend:
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”: After the success of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” in 2011, the origin story is skipping ahead, after the apes have formed a full-on army. Keri Russell stars as one of the humans who have survived – for now – after the outbreak of the virus 10 years ago, but a war is looming. The cast also includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and Judy Greer. Rated PG-13.
“And So It Goes”: It’s been a while since we’ve had a Nancy Meyers-esque rom-com like “It’s Complicated” or “Something’s Gotta Give.” Meyers isn’t at the helm on “And So It Goes,” but it does star one of her favorites: Diane Keaton. She plays neighbor to Michael Douglas, who is tasked with raising his granddaughter. Friction – and probably a little love ensues in this Rob Reiner-directed flick. Annie Parisse (“The Following”) and Yaya DaCosta also star. Rated PG-13.
