While the MTV VMAs have continued to top themselves year after year, Miley Cyrus’s outrageous performance last year will be tough to beat.

Ariana Grande will have the chance to try, as she’s the first singer confirmed to be performing at the Video Music Awards in August.

What’s more, she’ll be performing her new single, the catchy pop track “Break Free,” live for the first time on the award show.

Grande unveiled the song for the world Wednesday night on MTV’s “Total Ariana Live,” a “TRL”-like special.

The pop star will also revealed this week that she, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J have collaborated on a new single, “Bang Bang,” which will hit the airwaves in late July.

Take a listen to the preview of “Break Free” and let us know if you’re excited in the comments!

The VMAs will air live Sunday, August 24 on MTV. Her album, “My Everything,” will also be available immediately after the ceremony, hours before its original August 25 release.
