Pharrell Williams
will play a rare U.S. show next week, for the American Express Unstaged concert series.

The "Happy" man will perform at 9 p.m. EST on June 3 from the Apollo Theater in New York, which will be streamed live at www.amexunstaged.com.

Spike Lee will direct the production, which is the 14th in the Unstaged series.

Williams is playing only a handful of U.S. dates this summer, mostly opening for Bruno Mars in Los Angeles and New York as well as in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and also including Shaggfest on June 7 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Most of his year will be spent in Europe, where Williams is playing festivals during June and July and begins a headlining tour on September 9 in Manchester, England.

There's no word yet on a more extensive U.S. tour to promote his latest solo album, "G.I.R.L."
