They might have to change the name to “Trio Detective”: HBO’s “True Detective” will feature three leads for the show’s sophomore run.

Speaking with public radio’s “To the Best of Our Knowledge,” creator Nic Pizzolatto explained that along with an additional lead character, the next season will take place in California.

“Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser-known venues of California. And we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one,” he added (via Vulture).

The acclaimed first season starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, neither of whom will return.

There was speculation that the show, which was criticized for its female characters, would feature two leads in the second batch of episodes.

No casting has been set, although Jessica Chastain went on record denying that she would star.
