Angela Bassett
already proved she knows how to pull off a tragic biopic about a real-life star in “What’s Love Got to Do with It.”

Now she plans to do it again, this time in the director’s chair. The “American Horror Story: Coven” actress will helm “Whitney Houston,” a new biopic for Lifetime.

The film will chronicle her “headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model, and singer, songwriter Bobby Brown -- from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage,” according to the press release.

“Whitney Houston” is set to air in 2015, three years after the singer’s tragic passing. At this time, Bassett has not signed on to act in the film in any capacity, and the project has yet to be cast.

Aside from the project, Bassett is also likely to be back on “AHS” for the new season, subtitled “Freak Show.”
