Robin Thicke followed through on the rumors that he would sing a new song for his estranged wife at the Billboard Music Awards.

On Sunday, Thicke premiered “Get Her Back,” a not-so-veiled reference to actress Paula Patton, with whom he split earlier this year.

The ballad, in which he sings, “I should have kissed you longer / I should have held you stronger,” came after he saluted her during his acceptance speech for Top R&B song, which he won for “Blurred Lines.”

“Most importantly, I’d like to thank my wife for her love and support, and for putting up with me all these years,” he said (via Yahoo).

Thicke’s appearance at the Billboard Music Awards comes as the singer’s Blurred Lines Tour is winding down.

After a bit of a break, he’ll pick things up again, hitting several European cites in July before making a few more North American stops.
