Shortly after confirming that she's leaving NBC's "The Voice," Shakira has been added to the bill of the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, taking place Sunday in Las Vegas and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET by ABC.
Shakira, who's won six previous Billboard Music Awards, is promoting her latest album, "Shakira," which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after its March 25 release and has spawned the singles "Can't Remember to Forget You" with Rihanna," "Empire," "Medicine" with fellow "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton and "Dare (La La La)."
Shakira joins a roster of BMA performers that includes Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Imagine Dragons, 5 Seconds of Summer, OneRepublic, Pitbull, John Legend, Jason Derulo, Iggy Azalea, Ricky Martin, Florida Georgia Line and a pairing of Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert.
Shakira announced on Tuesday, May 13, that she'll be leaving "The Voice" after the show's sixth season concludes next week, telling Popstop TV News that, "I'm thrilled to take a little break and also be with my son and be a mother for a little bit. You know I haven't been able to dedicate a lot of time to my baby, so you know it's really good that I can take this break and be back in the studio, too. I have a career that I have to pursue."
Shakira is also planning a concert tour, but no firm dates have been announced yet. No Doubt's Gwen Stefani will be stepping into "The Voice" for Season 7, while Christina Aguilera is planning to return, most likely in Season 8.
