Channing Tatum is ready to suit up.
The “Magic Mike” star has signed on to play Gambit in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the already-announced sequel to this year’s “Days of Future Past.”
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed the news in an interview with Total Film, revealing that Tatum would portray the rebellious Remy LeBeau.
“It is Channing, yes, yes. Well, you know, he’s a rogue. Channing – he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau,” Donner explained. “And he can handle the action. We all know that. And he has a really good heart.”
Donner added that she would also love to see Deadpool and X-Force on the big screen. The role of Gambit was previously filled by Taylor Kitsch (“Lone Survivor”) in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
Tatum will portray another rogue of sorts in this summer’s “Jupiter Ascending,” a sci-fi original from the Wachowskis, where he’ll play a rogue bounty hunter named Caine opposite Mila Kunis.
