Two of broadcast TV’s longest-running series are staying put.
FOX has picked up “American Idol” for a 14th season, while “Law & Order: SVU” will return for season 16.
The future “SVU” in particular seemed up in the air, as there were reports that NBC and creator Dick Wolf were disputing over a possible pay cut, according to Deadline.
Original star Mariska Hargitay is also likely to be back for the new season, while Wolf will again have three series airing on the Peacock Network, including the already-renewed “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”
While the ratings for “Idol” have been weak this season, it’s no shock that FOX picked the show up for another cycle, according to E! News.
Not so lucky were four other FOX series, including “Enlisted,” “Rake,” “Dads” and “Surviving Jack.”
Both “SVU” and “Idol” will end their current seasons on Wednesday, May 21. What do you think about the big renewals and cancellations? Drop a comment below!
