Spring break isn’t over yet!
ScreenDaily reports that the much buzzed-about “Spring Breakers” is getting a semi-sequel.
“Trainspotting” author Irvine Welsh has planned the screenplay for “Spring Breakers: The Second Coming.”
“It’s not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original, Wild Bunch co-chief Vincent Maraval said.
Instead, “The Second Coming” will follow a group of young people who “do battle” with a militant religious sect “that attempts to convert them.”
From Harmony Korine, “Spring Breakers” starred Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson (“Pretty Little Liars”) as college students who take their vacation a little too seriously, complete with a robbery and a lot of bad behavior.
There will reportedly be some of the old cast in the film, perhaps with a cameo from James Franco, who seems down to try just about anything.
