And the prodigal TV star returns!
Katherine Heigl is returning to television fulltime, more than four years after leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” under rocky circumstances.
Deadline reports that NBC has given a series order to “State of Affairs,” in which Heigl will play Charleston “Charlie” Tucker, a CIA analyst who works for the president (Alfre Woodard).
Aside from the daily drama of Washington, D.C., their relationship is strained because Charlie was in a relationship with the president’s late son.
The project bears more than a passing similarity to another Shonda Rhimes hit, “Scandal,” due to its D.C. setting.
“Smash” actor Leslie Odom Jr. also stars, along with Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand and Cliff Chamberlain.
On Tuesday, NBC also picked up Russian spy drama “Allegiance,” along with a comedy called “Marry Me,” starring “Happy Endings” actress Casey Wilson and Ken Marino (“Childrens Hospital”).
Are you excited to see Katherine Heigl back on TV or do you still wish she’d never quit being Izzy in the first place?
