Miley Cyrus' camp has finally released an official statement regarding the medical condition that's put her in a Kansas City hospital and forced the cancellation of her concerts this week.
The statement explains that, "Miley was suffering from a sinus infection during her tour. She was prescribed the antibiotic Cephalexin which she's now suffered an extreme allergic reaction to. This type of extreme reaction can last from five to 27 days in these types of cases. She will remain hospitalized and is under a doctor's care until we see some improvement in her condition and is asking for your compassion and privacy at this time. Miley is devastated about missing shows and possibly disappointing her fans."
In addition to shows in Kansas City and St. Louis, Cyrus has also postponed concerts scheduled for Nashville on Friday (April 18) and Louisville on Saturday (April 19); she's next slated to perform on Monday (April 21) in Philadelphia.
On Twitter, meanwhile, Cyrus has lashed out against rumors that there's more to the story than she's said, including one that she's pregnant.
Cyrus wrote on Thursday (April 17), "So many ignorant rumors out there no one is reading the official statement and these dumb asses are scaring my fans. Please read official."
She also tweeted that she "can't quite crying i wanna go back on tour. im meant to be onstage performing for y'all...not laying in a hospital bed."
The North American leg of Cyrus' Bangerz Tour ends in a week, April 25, in Mashantucket, Conn., with the European leg starting May 2 in Amsterdam.
