Boy meets director's chair: Ben Savage is following in his big brother’s footsteps and will make his directorial debut with an episode of “Girl Meets World.”
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” Savage, who reprises his role of Cory Matthews on Disney’s “Boy Meets World” spinoff, will direct an episode of the show’s freshman season.
"It was a natural progression because I had always wanted to direct and I felt such a personal connection to the show," he told “THR.” “It was an important piece of my life really. Directing was a natural next step for me and it's something I was looking forward to doing."
The episode follows Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley, trying to give “an odd girl” a makeover so their friend will date her.
Perhaps he can get some pointers from his brother, former “Wonder Years” star Fred Savage, who has become a prolific comedy director in recent years.
Savage has helmed more than 10 episodes of “2 Broke Girls,” along with episodes of “Modern Family,” “The Crazy Ones” and “Happy Endings.”
The first “Girl Meets World” trailer was released last week, and the show is set to air on Disney later this year.
