Katherine Heigl’s public image has taken a hit over the past few years, but it’s still worth something.
"Reuters" reports that the ex-“Grey’s Anatomy” star has hit the Duane Reade drug store chain with a $6 million lawsuit after a paparazzi photo of Heigl holding their shopping bags was posted on the company’s social media sites.
“We expect Duane Reade to pay for its willful misuse of Katherine Heigl’s name and likeness,” her lawyer said of the suit (via “Reuters”).
The photo was originally posted on the Just Jared site, but Duane Reade posted a tweet with the caption:
“Love a quick #DuaneReaderun? Even @KatieHeigl can’t resist shopping #NYC’s favorite drugstore.”
Heigl plans to donate any and all proceeds to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, a charity founded six years ago after her brother’s death in a car crash.
Since leaving “Grey’s,” the actress has focused on features, but she is now filming a political drama titled “State of Affairs” for NBC.
