Zac Efron appears to be trying to pull a McConaughey.
According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” that the actor, who has focused mostly on comedies of late, will get his lawyer on by producing and starring in a film adaptation of John Grisham’s “The Associate.”
In a serious turn, Efron is set to play a Yale Law School grad who must infiltrate the world’s largest law firm after being blackmailed.
From there, he will be sucked into a conspiracy involving “two powerful defense contractors worth billions.”
In 2014, Efron has starred in “That Awkward Moment” and will next appear in the frat comedy “Neighbors” next month.
Matthew McConaughey, who co-starred with Efron in 2012’s “The Paperboy,” saw career resurgence after his role in “The Lincoln Lawyer” in 2011.
Earlier this year, he won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in “Dallas Buyer’s Club” and appeared in the acclaimed HBO drama “True Detective.”
