Rihanna has already crossed over into acting work with a role in “Battleship” and a memorable cameo in “This Is the End.”
But the 26-year-old singer still has something to prove, and she might have gotten some advice from one of the most successful singers ever to cross over into acting: Whitney Houston.
Radar Online reports that the late “How Will I Know” singer might have warned RiRi about working with filmmaker Tyler Perry, who has reportedly been trying to woo her for some time.
“Although Tyler has been courting Rihanna for a year and a half, hoping to build a movie around her, she has rejected the idea,” one insider tells Radar, adding, “Whitney put her off Tyler by warning her bluntly that ‘Tyler’s films are for fading black stars, not rising ones.’”
The source also suggests that Rihanna has taken “The Bodyguard” star’s advice, avoiding a meeting with Perry and instead focusing on getting another role in an action film.
The singer already has one movie role in the works, a voiceover role for DreamWorks Pictures’ animated “Home,” for which she is also developing on a concept album.
