Now for some news that is sure to make “The Voice” fans “Happy”: Pharrell Williams has signed on as a coach for season 7.
According to the NBC press release, the performer will replace the departing CeeLo Green on the singing competition hit this fall.
“[Pharrell] has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect for ‘The Voice’ as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise,” NBC Entertainment’s Paul Telegdy said in the statement. “It feels like we are existing family member home.”
Pharrell has had tremendous success over the past year with the Oscar-nominated “Happy” from the “Despicable Me 2” soundtrack and his Daft Punk collaboration “Get Lucky.”
The rest of the line-up will be “confirmed at a later date.” Green announced his departure on “The Ellen Show,” and NBC has not yet said whether Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera will return.
