“Rizzoli & Isles” honored Lee Thompson Young with an on-air tribute last year, but the show has not yet dealt with the character’s absence.
Young took his own life last summer, after most of filming on the TNT’s fourth season had been completed, “TV Guide” reports.
Now Angie Harmon, who plays Jane Rizzoli, has tweeted that the new season will deal with the 29-year-old actor’s death.
“Hope you enjoyed @RizzoliIslesTNT season4 finale,” she wrote. “Season 5 eps 1&2 address our beloved Lee w/ love, honor & respect. Thank you @JanNash100.”
Nash, an executive producer on the show, had previously announced that they would not live-tweet the finale out of respect.
The first tribute featured the words “In Loving Memory of Lee Thompson Young 1984-2013,” along with “two silent clips” of the star, according to TMZ.
“Rizzoli & Isles” will return with its fifth season beginning June 17 on TNT, leading into the new season of “Perception.”
