Actress Brittany Daniel decided this week to open up about her secret battle with cancer.
In an interview with “People,” the star of BET’s “The Game” revealed that she was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the summer of 2011.
Before her diagnosis, she had begun feeling back pain, flu-like symptoms and night sweats.
“It happened so suddenly,” she told “People.” There is no way I would have ever gotten through this without my family.”
Daniel is now reportedly cancer-free, and though she kept it a secret at the time, she vowed to share her story to make sure others “know they are not alone.”
The star rose to fame opposite her twin sister Cynthia in the ‘90s TV series adaptation of “Sweet Valley High.”
After the show ended, Daniel made a memorable turn on the WB’s “Dawson’s Creek” as the mysterious Eve before co-starring on the CW’s “The Game” for three seasons until its cancellation in 2009.
Though she made guest appearances after BET resurrected the show, the actress has been bumped back up to a series regular on the seventh season, which began airing this month.
