“Louie” has been off the air for 19 months, but now he’s back!
As promised, the FX hit will return for its long-in-development fourth season on May 5, E! News reports.
Louie C.K.’s cult comedy will air back-to-back episodes for seven straight weeks, bringing the season total to 14 episodes.
“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because – even though ‘Louie’ was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America – he needed to make it even better,” FX CEO John Landgraf said (via E!). “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably he accomplished his goal.”
FX will also have to make room on its busy summer schedule for four new scripted series, including “Tyrant,” a Middle East-set drama from the producers of “Homeland.”
Along with Guillermo Del Toro’s vampire drama “The Strain,” the network will also launch two new comedies, “Married” and “You’re the Worst,” in July.
“Married” stars Judy Greer and Nat Faxon as a married couple who are “miserably in love,” while “You’re the Worst” has rising stars Aya Cash and Chris Geere as a self-destructive pair in love.
