FOX making good on their promise to throw out the pilot season model, offering early renewals to four of its hits.
Over the weekend, the network announced that three of their Tuesday night comedies series would return in the fall, including “New Girl,” “The Mindy Project” and the Golden Globe-winning freshman series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
One other series, Kevin Bacon’s “The Following,” also received a season 3 pickup, according to The Futon Critic.
The four shows join the previously-renewed “Sleepy Hollow,” as well as “Glee” and “Bones,” both of which are expected to end their runs next season.
FOX announced earlier this year that they will no longer adhere to the common broadcast model of ordering pilots in winter months, before announcing new and returning series in May.
The network’s scripted shows that are currently awaiting their fate include the other Tuesday night comedy, “Dads,” as well as “Enlisted,” “Raising Hope” and “Almost Human.”
