Katy Perry recently notched another no. 1 for her new single “Dark Horse,” but not everyone is loving it.
A Change.org petition was reportedly successful in lobbying Youtube to alter the video for the song, claiming that a pendant a man is wearing in the video forms the word “Allah,” the Arabic word for God.
The petition, which has garnered more than 65,000 signatures, goes so far as to refer to the video as “blasphemy,” as the man is later set on fire, as is the pendant, “Time” reports.
Now it seems that the petition’s supporters were victorious, as the video has been altered so that the pendant no longer appears when the man does at the 1:15 point in the music video.
The video is very loosely based on Ancient Egyptian iconography and has already been accused of cultural appropriation.
Yet many of the singer’s fans don’t seem to mind, as the video has garnered nearly 40 million hits on Youtube in one week.
