“The Voice” is back next week with a new lineup, but one original coach says he won’t be back at all.
CeeLo Green told Ellen DeGeneres this week that his time on the NBC singing competition series has come to an end, “USA Today” reports.
The singer stopped by to chat while Lionel Richie was being interviewed on the daytime hit when he dropped the bomb.
“I’m not coming back at all,” he told Ellen, when asked if he’d be back on the show this fall, adding, “I don’t want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I’m saying? I have so many other things I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with an album.”
CeeLo did say that he isn’t done with the Peacock Network yet, as he is producing a potential comedy series there, and he is looking into talk show opportunities.
As planned, the show will return on Monday, with Shakira and Usher returning for their second seasons alongside stalwart coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
Who would you like to see replace CeeLo on the show?
