Selena Gomez spent two weeks in rehab last month, but not for the reason you might think.
“People” reports that the former Disney star checked into Dawn at the Meadows in Arizona on January 5, but a rep said it was not due to issues with drugs or alcohol.
“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” the rep told “People.”
No further explanation into the stay in rehab was released, but the pop star cancelled her Australian tour dates late last year, citing a need to step back a bit.
“It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” she said in a statement (via “People”).
Gomez’s only current scheduled performance is at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas next month. The singer-actress also starred in a movie musical directed by William H. Macy that debuted at Sundance last month.
