“Divergent” is set to hit theaters sooner than you can say “Shailene Woodley,” and the final trailer has bowed in advance of the film’s March release.
The new preview (via MSN UK) features Woodley giving a voiceover that explains the film’s conceit, that society’s rulers created a system of classifying humans by personality type in order to achieve world peace.
The trailer shows her character, Tris, going through the trials that are meant to determine the faction in which each person is placed as a teen.
Yet Tris is “divergent,” meaning that she does not fit within one of those five factions. She poses a risk to those in power, including Kate Winslet, and that’s when things get interesting.
“Divergent also stars Miles Teller, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal”), Maggie Q (“Nikita”), Mekhi Phifer and Woodley’s “The Fault in Our Stars” co-star, Ansel Elgort.
The movie will open in theaters on March 21 in the U.S. What did you think of the climactic final trailer for “Divergent”? Sound off in the comments!
