What do you do for your 60th birthday when you’ve been everywhere and seen everything?
The answer, if you’re Oprah Winfrey, is a simple, no-frills birthday dinner at her home, according to the “Chicago Tribune.”
Perhaps that’s because the former Queen of Daytime is burned out after traveling from award show to award show in support of her acclaimed part in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” last year.
Along with a slew of awards for the film itself, Oprah has invididually been nominated for a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her supporting role of Gloria Gaines.
Of course, the multi-hyphenate entered the homes of millions of Americans on a daily basis as the host of the “Oprah Winfrey Show” for 25 years before she hung up her hat.
While Oprah was not ready to retire after her show went off the air, she was looking for a change, and boy, did she get one! She launched her own network, the Oprah Winfrey Network the same year as her final show.
Though it got off to a rocky start, the network has quickly come into its own (no pun intended), with the success of her partnership with Tyler Perry and the continued success of her interview series, “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
Last year, she sat down on CBS’s “This Morning,” to discuss the milestone birthday.
“The 6-0 number, I’ve always said to people, to own it,” she said via the Tribune). “Even I, who has said to women all these years, own it, own it, own it, took a pause for that.”
