Adam Lambert turns 32 today!
The flashy rocker doesn’t just want to be known as the runner-up in the eighth season of “American Idol” – he wants to carve out his own niche in the world of music. Adam Lambert is much more than glitter, glam-rock, and flair. He auditioned for “Idol” a mere five years ago, but he recently declared on Twitter that he has gone through an “amazing evolution.”
Adam Lambert was born January 29, 1982 in Indianapolis, Indiana but quickly migrated to the sunny paradise of suburban San Diego. Lambert was seduced by the stage at the age of ten. He began to hone his craft by taking private voice lessons and performing in theatrical venues, drawing inspiration from musical heavyweights such as David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and Madonna.
The stars really started to align for him in 2004 when he scored a starring role alongside Val Kilmer in “The Ten Commandments: The Musical.” In 2005, he became an understudy in the Broadway smash “Wicked.”
Just four short years later in 2009, Lambert’s life would forever be changed by his appearance on Idol. Although he didn’t win, he made himself a household name with his impressive vocal range and showmanship. While some contestants simply fade away, this fiery performer shined brighter than most.
Lambert debuted at No. 3 with “For Your Entertainment” on the Billboard 200 chart that same magical year and was nominated for a Grammy Award for his smash “Whataya Want From Me.” He continued his success in 2012 with “Trespassing,” which landed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
Since then, Lambert has stayed busy, touring with legendary rock band Queen in 2012 and 2013. The collaboration was initially to raise money for organizations dedicated to AIDS awareness, but Lambert quickly earned the band’s respect and Queen has hinted at more stints in 2014.
With his recent addition to the cast of “Glee” and a new album in the works, his star has not faded one bit.
