Justin Bieber is going off the grid – though not intentionally, of course.
The star’s phone was reportedly confiscated by the Sherriff’s Department after his home was raided in an ongoing investigation of whether he egged his neighbor’s home, CNN reports.
Lt. David Thompson tells CNN that Bieber’s personal iPhone was taken by way of a felony search warrant.
“We didn’t do this search warrant to send a message,” he said (via CNN). “That’s not what we do, but we hope maybe that understanding the gravity of this will change some of the behavior.”
Along with searching the phone, investigators are checking security footage to see if there’s video of the singer “bragging or making fun of” the egging.
The damage is estimated at $20,000 and a felony vandalism charge could carry jail time. However, Thompson adds that police will not pursue anything regarding photos or texts involving nudity or drugs.
That statement comes after Bieber’s friend, rapper Lil Za, was arrested during the raid for alleged cocaine possession, though the substance is now believed to be MDMA or “Molly.”
