Not all the drama on soap operas takes places in front of the cameras, it seems.
Following Michael Muhney’s shocking firing from “The Young & the Restless,” veteran actor Eric Braeden is opening up about the behind-the-scenes drama that led to his co-star’s departure.
Braeden tells Radar Online that Muhney, who played fan-favorite character Adam Newman since 2009, had attempted to get him fired from the daytime hit first.
“I was prompted to get into ‘fisticuffs’ with him because he wanted me off the show, if you want to know the truth,” he tells Radar.
Braeden claims the situation devolved into a “shouting match” near the end after he learned that Muhney “wanted me off the show because he wanted to be head honcho” and apologized for it before leaving.
“The last day he was here, he apologized to me, you bet. He was contrite and apologized for several things that he had said and done,” he told “Radar.” “I said it’s okay… I have forgiven him, I always told him that openly.”
Muhney sidestepped rumors that his co-star was involved in his firing when he talked with “The Huffington Post” last month after the news broke.
