Michael Bay is a world famous director, but it’s nice to know that even he suffers from a bit of stage fright when it comes to public speaking.

Bay, whose “Transformers: Age of Extinction” hits theaters in June, attended Samsung’s CES 2014 Press Conference in Las Vegas, where he was expected to give a speech.

According to MTV News, however, things didn’t quite go according to plan, leading to the director’s bizarre exit.

After a teleprompter error left him stranded on stage, he stood around awkwardly, offering to just “wing it” before walking off the stage altogether.

Bay then took to his official site to explain his awkward exit, writing, “Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES… I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then… the teleprompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”
