Just a week after sharing his engagement to Gabrielle Union with the world, NBA star Dwyane Wade had another big announcement with week.
The athlete confirmed Monday to the “Sun Sentinel” that he welcomed a son a month ago that he fathered during a break from Gabrielle Union.
“I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy,” he said. “So I’m moving on.”
The couple revealed their engagement via social media last week, with Union posting a photo of the ring.
The 31-year-old athlete, who has primary custody of his two sons from a previous marriage, talked about meeting his newborn son for the first time.
“Yeah, I’ve got a chance to see him,” he said. “You know me. I’m involved in my kids’ lives… Like I’ve said, this is something that my family knows and my now fiancée worked through when we got back together, and understood that we wanted to continue our lives together and continue supporting our family and we’re going to do that. That’s what I’ve always done.”
