“We’ve been through hell together. We’ve spent four years fighting that virus and another four fighting each other. It was chaos.”

Everything has changed in the years since “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Long gone is the Caesar that James Franco’s Will grew up with.

The first teaser for “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” which is set to hit theaters next July, was released this week.

Most of the preview follows a speech by new cast member Gary Oldman, who is attempting to broker peace between the humans and the apes.

Yet when Caesar (Andy Serkis) makes his first appearance nearly one minute in, his icy glare straight into the camera suggests that that simply isn’t going to happen.

The film also stars Judy Greer as a new female ape, along with Keri Russell, Kodi Smit-McPhee (“Romeo and Juliet”) and Jason Clarke (“Brotherhood”).
