A decade after starring in the award-winning true crime drama “Monster,” Christina Ricci is taking on another real-life horror story in Lifetime’s “Lizzie Borden Took an Axe.”
In the forthcoming TV movie, Ricci will play Lizzie Borden, who was tried for the murders of both her father and stepmother in the late 1890s, according to Vulture.
The film, which will follow the crimes and the ensuing legal battle, will also star Clea DuVall (“American Horror Story”) and Billy Campbell (“The Killing”).
Lifetime has been on a roll lately with ripped-from-the-pages crime stories, including “House of Versace” and the “Bonnie & Clyde” miniseries, which also aired on A&E and History.
Next month, the cable net will also premiere the new adaptation of V.C. Andrews’s “Flowers in the Attic” with Ellyn Burstyn, Heather Graham and “Mad Men” actress Kiernan Shipka.
“Lizzie Borden Took an Axe” is set to premiere on Saturday, January 25 at 8pm on Lifetime. Will you be tuning in or was the trailer just too creepy?
