Production on “Fast & Furious 7” was delayed indefinitely following the shocking death of the franchise’s star, Paul Walker.

While Universal handed over the time slot to “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” the sequel will still likely move forward.

According to “The Hollywood Reporter,” writer Chris Morgan is already hard at work revising the script to “retire Walker’s character from the series using scenes already shot.”

If all goes well, production could be back in business by as early as late January. There is reportedly a great deal of footage of Walker’s character, as one source tells “THR” that “[a]lmost exactly half of his role was done.”

Fans of the racing franchise do not seem apprehensive about wanting “Fast 7,” despite the actor’s death in a car crash.

Thousands of fans came out, many in souped-up vehicles, to celebrate Walker’s death at an impromptu memorial at the crash site.
