Oprah Winfrey is known for being one of the most nurturing people in show business, but that does not mean she regrets not having children of her own.
In an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter” for their Women in Entertainment breakfast, the talk show mogul explains that parenthood was not on her mind in her youth.
“Gayle [King, now a mother of two] was the kind of kid, who, in seventh grade Home Ec class, was writing down her name and the names of her children,” she said. “While she was having those kind of daydreams, I was having daydreams about how I could be Martin Luther King.”
Winfrey, who has been in a relationship with Stedman Graham for more than 20 years, adds that she does not regret her decision not to have children.
“If I had kids, my kids would hate me,” she explained. “They would have ended up on the equivalent of the ‘Oprah’ show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.”
