Travie McCoy is back in the Top 20 of the Billboard Pop Songs charts with "Rough Water," his new single with guest Jason Mraz.

McCoy tells us that it’s not exactly a brand new song but took on new life recently:

"The song's actually written a couple years ago... It kinda sat on the back burner for awhile, and I did that song with Benny Blanco a couple years back...and he was working with Jason and was like, ‘Yo, I want you to hear a song I did with Trav awhile ago. And Jason played some guitar on it and he actually re-sang the hook and Benny sent it to me and I was like, 'Whoa!' He took this thing to a whole ‘nother planet. It was just fantastic. It meshed so well, and so we decided to put it out there for public consumption and people are digging it, so I'm stoked."

McCoy is currently playing some holiday shows before finishing work on his second solo album, the follow-up to 2010’s "Lazarus," though no release date has been set.

He says his band, Gym Class Heroes, is also working on new material.
